Ingredients
- Chikkudukayalu (Broad beans) – 2 cups
- Tomatoes – 2 medium (finely chopped)
- Onion – 1 medium (sliced)
- Green chillies – 2 (slit)
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Salt – to taste
- Cumin powder – ½ tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Garam masala – ¼ tsp
- Fresh coriander leaves – few (chopped)
- Water – as needed
Preparation Process
- Wash the broad beans thoroughly.
- Remove the fiber from the sides.
- Split them lengthwise into two to check for worms.
- Cut them into small pieces.
- Boil the chopped broad beans with little water and salt until just soft. Drain and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Add sliced onion and green chillies. Sauté until onions turn light golden.
- Add ginger garlic paste and fry until raw smell disappears.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft and mushy.
- Add boiled broad beans and mix well.
- Add cumin powder, coriander powder, and garam masala.
- Fry well until the masala coats the beans evenly.
- Add little water if needed and cook for 3–4 minutes.
- Switch off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves.

- Do not overcook broad beans; they should remain slightly firm.
- Cook tomatoes well for better taste and color.
- Adjust green chillies according to spice preference.
